Multi-channel ACIR and OCV testing solution
I. Industry Background:
On April 11th, the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance released the monthly information on power batteries
for March 2024. In March, the combined output of power and other batteries in China was 75.8 GWh, a month-on-month increase of 73.8%
and a year-on-year increase of 39.8%. From January to March, the cumulative combined output of power and other batteries in China was
184.6 GWh, with a cumulative year-on-year growth of 33.5%.
From January to March, the cumulative combined sales volume of power and other batteries in China was 167.7 GWh, with a cumulative
year-on-year growth of 35.5%. Among them, the cumulative sales volume of power batteries was 146.2 GWh, accounting for 87.2%,
with a cumulative year-on-year growth of 35.4%; the cumulative sales volume of other batteries was 21.5 GWh, accounting for 12.8%,
with a cumulative year-on-year growth of 36.8%.
From January to March, the cumulative installation volume of power batteries in China was 85.2 GWh, with a cumulative year-on-year
growth of 29.4%. Among them, the cumulative installation volume of ternary batteries was 30.9 GWh, accounting for 36.2% of
the total installation volume, with a cumulative year-on-year growth of 47.8%; the cumulative installation volume of lithium iron
phosphate batteries was 54.3 GWh, accounting for 63.8% of the total installation volume, with a cumulative year-on-year growth of 20.9%.
II. Industry Pain Points:
As the battery shipment volume increases, the workload of battery inspection also rises. Among them, ACIR testing and OCV testing
can assist production personnel in assessing the charge and discharge status, capacity, and aging state of batteries, thereby enabling
cell classification or directly removing cells in abnormal states.
If only a single tester is used for this inspection process, the testing efficiency will be far from meeting the shipment requirements.
If multiple internal resistance testers are used for parallel testing, it will significantly increase the cost of instrument procurement.
If a single tester is used with relay switching, it will increase the complexity of the production line structure, and the problem of different
zero points of the tester through different relays is difficult to solve.
III. Solution
The precision battery internal resistance tester developed by Ruijie Intelligent is fully compatible with the ACIR/OCV testing process
of lithium battery cells. It can quickly and reliably test the AC internal resistance, open circuit voltage, and shell voltage of the cells.
When paired with the corresponding multi-channel scanning unit, it can achieve up to 108-channel rapid serial testing and sort the
test results. It also supports RS232 and RS485 communication methods, reducing the cost of instrument procurement and significantly
improving the testing efficiency while ensuring accuracy.
